i love seeing all the different headcanons for spn's angels out there, some of which are really quite imaginative, so i'm tickled that the two-dimensional bit works for you. characters that are "others" really have so much potential, don't they?
But they hang on, here, which is soothing despite my worries. ...you're making my eyes water. (perhaps this dynamic, as broken as it is, isn't gone forever? one can only hope.)
