introduction to daniel scarsdale
Mar. 8th, 2023 12:36 pmmiscellaniummy website has way too much information about maurice montgomery (i really should pare some of that down) so i haven't felt it necessary to reproduce info about him here on dreamwidth, but this newest oc is still a conceptual baby so he gets a post all to himself. some of this is copypasted from discord. content warnings for sexual harassment/assault and alcoholism.
a couple visual references: 1, 2, 3. the hair in ref 3 is too fluffy - it should be more like ringo in ref 2. still debating whether he has facial hair other than sideburns. hamish linklater (actor in the first reference) is an acceptable face claim if you need one, though the actor is definitely too tall lol.
basic outline:
american, from california probably or colorado, lay leader at a reform or reconstructionist congregation in the 1970s/80s, accused of sexual harassment. rabbi took pity on him because he was estranged from family and gave him a recommendation for placement in italy - he had distant relatives in the south there (neofiti). got started at a social center for drug addicts that was not officially affiliated with the catholic church but had connections - shared building spaces, priests would lead services for the people they were helping, etc. he'd do music therapy, teaching people how to play basic stuff. his personal instrument of choice is the saxophone but he's not especially talented with it. competent, nothing more.
the center came under financial pressure and entered into an agreement with one of the vatican secret sections (iscariot the order of st michael) to allow them to recruit members in exchange for funding. this agreement made it easier for dan to treat his clients however he liked since the order was more than happy to look the other way as long as he occasionally sent people to them.
after the kjv guard attack on the vatican at the end of 1999*, the order was forced to stop funding the social center and dan was effectively laid off when the center decided to cut music therapy from their programming and he didn't want to provide any other services with them. he had enough money saved up to just drive around, hoping to make a career as a traveling musician. he was able to earn a little bit but not enough to make a name for himself. dies in a drunken one-car accident while driving the amalfi coast.

kidscomefirst, both my assigned piece and the pinch hit i picked up. the mod did a good job running it, imo, given the sensitivity of the premise; it doesn't surprise me there was difficulty with matching people up but i really appreciated how determined the mod was to make sure nobody walked away empty-handed. still, i'm glad i threw at least one popular fandom in my signup to make matching me easier! idk if it'll happen again next year but i'd be happy to participate if it does.
my assignment was for zabuza/haku from naruto and when i saw the recipient liked emeto i knew i had to do something with that - it's a rare enough fetish but combined with underage? us weirdos gotta look out for each other.
my pinch hit was for someone who was open to original characters, and one of their prompts was "Reluctant priest/Cute altar boy with a crush on him" so that was the easiest for me to do since what is maurice but a reluctant priest? i've kicked around an omegaverse version of maurice around before but because that version of him is a closeted omega and the recipient didn't want the younger character to be too dominant, i had to get a little creative. i ended up borrowing herbert west from re-animator and scrubbing his serial numbers, lol, so i could have someone who'd be snotty and aggressive enough to rile up maurice but still be easy to push around when it matters (like hill does to him in the film).
my gift was hunter x hunter fanart - hisogon, natch, and it's soooo cute with just the right amount of ero. you can check it out here! (and now that authors have been revealed i see that the person i pinch hit for was the same one who picked up my request as a pinch hit, lol, bless them.)

A/N: the title is taken from herbert's bertram's dialogue. this ended up being half worldbuilding and half porn, which feels like a pretty good balance to me. the recipient seemed thrilled that i went with a cat-style omegaverse rather than the more common canine approach and i'm glad, since cat!omegaverse is way more fun to me conceptually even though i do like knots.
