Title: No More Rain (From Where We Came)
Author: [livejournal.com profile] miscellanium
Characters: Castiel, Dean, Sam, Bobby can be read as either gen or d/c pre-slash
Rating: PG-13 (some language and brief violence)
Warnings: mentions of children being kidnapped; Enochian chess.
Spoilers: set after season 5; no specific references beyond that.
Word Count: ~15,000
Summary: There's a drought in the Midwest and an angel in the backseat. Nobody's quite sure why he's there, but when the brothers pick up a case and Castiel invites himself along, it turns out that the answer—or something like it, anyway—is in Nebraska.

Thanks: This would not have been brought into existence if it hadn't been for Maria and this prompt - as you are well aware it stopped being a drabble rather quickly and then there's all the whining you put up with for about five months HAVE YOU LEARNED YOUR LESSON.
Thanks also to Estella May for her insightful and very valuable review of the first draft, and last but hardly least there's [livejournal.com profile] tinypinkmouse - where do I start? You are an amazing beta and an absolutely fabulous human being. Thank you so so much. ♥

Notes: Title from Moby Grape's "Omaha", but if this fic has a theme song it's Sufjan Stevens' "For the Widows in Paradise, For the Fatherless in Ypsilanti".

Cross-posted to ff.net on april 10 and AO3 on april 13.

eta: soundtrack is up! head on over here.

Concrit is always welcome, and feedback is terrific!

note: there have been some small edits made to the fic here and there since it was posted, so the pdf is out of date. if this is of significant concern to you, just let me know and i'll redo it.
